PostgreSql DBA

Location : Harrisburg, PA ( remote till covid), onsite needed after that

JOB DESCRIPTION

· Minimum 10 years of experience administering Postgresql and other relational databases

· Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Postgres database administration, performance tuning and production support in a high volume, customer-facing apps/environment.

· At least 2 years of experience with Aurora Postgresql is required.

· Hands-on experience with performance tuning of Postgres databases like profiling, partition strategy, slow query analysis, vacuum, indexes, tablespaces, etc

· Hands-on experience in setting up Aurora clusters, configuring and supporting replication of databases in AWS cloud

· Working experience with z/OS DB2 database is preferred

· Exceptional experience administering multi-terabyte databases in production environment

· Proficiency with SQL, Shell, Python

· Strong communication & analytical skills and ability to work effectively across multiple business and technical teams

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, tight deadline delivery timeline

· Aptitude to independently learn new technologies

Responsibilities include:

· Responsible for administration of production, QA, and development of Aurora Postgresql database clusters

· Optimize the Aurora database clusters for reliability, scalability and faster query response

· Help with application teams for tuning the postgresql database queries to work with Aurora postgresql

· Implement partition strategies (static and dynamic), triggers, sequences and sql procedures

· Build automation (lambda) scripts to take backup, snapshot and recovery

· Use Database Migration Service (DMS) to copy and rebuild databases as and when needed

· Conduct benchmark tests to size the cluster for non-prod and production environments

· Work with security team to implement necessary security protocols

· Measurement and optimization of system performance Capacity planning and forecast management

· Participate in new technology/feature evaluation, design, and development of highly scalable distributed database
