Required Skills : 1. • Senior Level Oracle DBA – Production DBA 2. • Heavy Emphasis on automation 3. • Scripting 90% of what they do with Shell and python - Not picky on language of scripts. 4. Golden Gate or Datagaurd

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·         Provides primary Database Engineering support for implementing, upgrading and maintaining the Oracle database environments in 11g, 12c, and 19c.

·         Monitors and resolves database issues; proactively works with application support staff to ensure that application problems do not adversely affect production operations.

·         Collaborates with developers and application owners and vendors to report and resolve problems.

·         All aspects of database risk mitigation including backup and recovery, monitoring, and issue prevention.

·         Ensures compliance of database security standards, writes and maintains documentation.

·         Responsible for rotating on-call shift, roughly once every other month; performs first response and resolution if possible or escalation to experts.

·         Forecasts and analyzes future capacity needs; documents potential issues, recommends solutions to potential capacity problems, and develops tools and utilities to mitigate future capacity issues.

·         Provides analysis, consultation, and technical leadership during project development, ensuring alignment with enterprise level database strategy.

·         Maintains and writes new code to support database engineering activities.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Required:

·         Strong technical skills around managing Oracle 12c databases. 

·         Strong knowledge of operating systems (Linux), and supporting Oracle for both enterprise software such as Peoplesoft (similar welcomed), and custom in-house applications.

·         Strong problem solving skills; continually self-educating about Oracle and related technologies.

·         Some experience and demonstrated enthusiasm around coding, primarily in Python and shell; similar experience welcomed (Perl, etc).

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·         Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership on the Oracle aspect of medium-sized IT projects.

·         Ambition and desire to learn new things and seek new responsibilities.

·         Solid organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments.

·         Excellent collaboration skills when working with teammates and customers.

·         Desire to solve tough problems.

·         Available to sometimes work outside normal business hours, including weekends and early morning hours, as well as be on-call (as-needed for areas of expertise as well as working rotating on-call shift which is 7x24, roughly every other month).

Preferred: 

·         Experience in both 11g and 12c (and beyond).

·         Experience with Oracle RAC.

·         Experience in setting up, installing and managing Oracle replication technologies such as Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle DataGuard.

·         Experience with Ansible, Chef, and Git, or other similar tools.

·         Experience with managing data in the cloud and moving data to and from the cloud (GCP/BigQuery/Striim especially).

·         Demonstrated experience with tuning, reasonable understanding of Oracle internals.

·         Obsession with making things better and automation, while also being able to recognize and go for the “good enough” solution.
