JOB DETAIL

Role Description: The Teradata Database Administrator would need to have at least 3+ years of relevant experience and have proficient knowledge of physical database design, capacity planning, security planning, backup and recovery systems, operating systems, data modeling, query language, performance, and software development concepts and production support related tools and technology.

Required Experience:

- 4+ years working as a Teradata DBA professionally is must.
- Experience working in a production environment with minimal to no downtime allowed.
- Performance monitoring experience utilizing ViewPoint is required.
- Experience handling atleast one cluster with few petabytes of data is required.
- Experience in handling year end maintenance activities right from plan till execution.

Responsibilities:

- Optimizing developer, as well as, users SQL.
- Performance tuning via TASM. Workload Management such as Delay queue monitoring and Changing the system state based on delay queue.
- Monitor Teradata Utility failure/long run /delay.
- Work with incident owners on Security/SOX related issue and bring it to closure.
- Work with incident owners on Single row insert and Guide users to follow the steps to get rid of such queries.
- Design, model, configure, test, and install databases.
- Perform and troubleshoot database backup, recovery, capacity, and security plans.
- Administer, maintain, and implement changes to existing databases to meet Customer requirements.
- Respond to test and production database problems and implement immediate resolution efforts across technology areas.
- Design, create, implement, and support databases to meet project and system design requirements.
- Implement moderately complex changes to existing databases.
- Install and configure new database engines and upgrades to new product releases.
- Implement physical data models at a project level.
- Create, document, and administer, and document database backup and recovery plans, capacity plans and security plans to meet project requirements.
- Analyze and resolve highly problems of medium to high complexity.
- Use database/ system management tools proficiently.
- Monitor and tune existing databases of medium complexity and moderate business exposure.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve Batch failure/log running problems.
- Notify users on Log responding/idle sessions/Session block and take necessary action.
- Release query manually from Queue by working with operations teams on Job concurrency control.
- Provide general technical support to Services and Development groups.
- Handling year end activities such as analyzing and consolidating  list the table names with expiring partitions and views  where  data restriction need to apply /extend by sending notifications and get signoff
