Health Care Information Systems (HCIS): Provides andsupports information and communication systems and technology that facilitatequality patient care, progressive medical education, and innovative research.

 

HCIS services University of Iowa Health Care by:

•Providing comprehensive, high level support for patientcare delivery, internal and external communication, technology innovation,medical education, and research.

•Creating and Maintaining a positive, productive, andrewarding environment for information technology and communication staff

 

The Administrative Applications Division consists of 40 FTEs who work to develop, maintain, implement, and provide on-going support forall administrative applications, for UI Health Care and affiliates. The divisionworks closely with its customers to identify technology solutions to addressbusiness needs and improve operational efficiencies. Systems are a mix ofinternally developed applications and vendor-supported products. Vendor systemssupported by the division include the Epic patient registration, scheduling andbilling systems supporting both hospital and professional billing needs, APIHealthcare Time and Attendance and Staff Scheduling systems supporting labormanagement, Allscripts EPSi decision support system and Strata Jazz budgetingand planning software. The division also supports Human Resources, SupplyChain, and Finance and Accounting Services.

 

Currently, there is a need for a Sr Oracle/SQL Developer toassist in several leaderships driven initiatives.  This is a 3-6-monthproject where we are developing new java based web applications to aid in thecreation of new ID badges for the entire hospital; updating the cadence of ourpayroll process to pay workers more frequently; as well as assisting miscellaneousDB support requests where we have integration touchpoints with many databasesthroughout the organization are will assist in efforts to optimize these wherepossible.   This resource will be working under the direction of theteam lead with 4 additional developers on the team.   

 

The environment consists of Client hosted SQL Server /Oracle databases.  The day-to-day duties this contractor will beperforming in this role include: Participating in project design discussions;Working on project deliverables; Testing new functionality; Communicatingstatus updates to team -  The stack order technical priorities and yearsof experience needed to be successful in this role:

•Toad for Oracle  evaluating and updating existingprocedures / writing new procedures / modifying tables (5-7 years)

•SQL Server Management Studio - evaluating and updatingexisting procedures / writing new procedures / modifying tables (5-7 years)

•Microsoft Visual Studio  evaluating and updating SSISpackages / creating new SSIS packages (5-7 years)
