Java/Python Developer

6-month+ contract with Wellington Management.

rate is $60/hr and will hire from web-ex.

Keys to the Position
1.   Candidate should have at least 8 years of development experience working with Python and Java with at least 2 years working with Python. They will be working with Python moving forward but we have a lot of applications written in Java so having both is needed.
2.   Must have experience taking projects thru the full SDLC
3.   Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
4.   Dev ops experience would be a very big + as well as AWS
5.   This position can be based in Boston or Marlborough

THE POSITION
The Regulatory Technology team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a team responsible for the firm’s regulatory technology. This position is an opportunity to be part of a strategic initiative in regulatory technology leveraging new technologies in AWS and leading approaches in data pattern analysis. The Senior Software Engineer will be part of a development team to forward enhancements and maintenance of existing applications and infrastructure to keep pace with the evolution and growing complexity of the firm’s regulatory needs. Keys to this position are a strong record of accomplishment of delivering scalable and flexible software solutions, analytical and data analysis skills, solid hands-on technical skills with a willingness and ability to learn new technologies and concepts, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in IT and the business. Senior Software Engineer must be methodical and detailed in their design and development approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily activities and responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
•   Work with business team members, project managers/analysts, other software engineers to review business requirements, functional specifications, use-cases, and test plans
•   Design, prototype and author code for software components and applications based on functional specification and optimize them for performance
•   Ensure the adherence to established code-quality standards within the development and QA teams including continuous integration, code reviews, Dev Ops and all required release documentation
•   Establish and maintain effective relationships with business partners and provide thought leadership and technology solutions that forward business goals and firm needs
•   Collaborate across the Technology Department to share knowledge, contribute to Wellington’s Open Source libraries, and engage in lively leading-edge technology discussions
•   Stay abreast of technology trends, tools and where applicable vendor products and integration through training, conferences and industry engagement
•
QUALIFICATIONS
•   BS degree in Computer Science or a similar analytical degree
•   7-10 years of software development and design experience
•   7+ years demonstrated experience developing enterprise applications and services using Java and related technologies
•   Experience in relational and non-relational database technologies
•   Motivated, agile and able to work independently in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
•   Committed to delivering projects on time and overcome obstacles
•   Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
•   Experience with working in AWS environment, strong Dev Ops, data pattern analysis tools and implementations is preferred
•   Experience working in the Regulatory Technology, Investment or Trading a plus
