JOB DETAIL

Location: Des Moines, IA – Charlotte, NC – Minneapolis, MN – Raleigh, NC

Visa: USC or GC

1.            Why is this position open? How is it impacting the business?

               This is a LAN replacement position.  The LAN team has a broad set of responsibilities that include Campus, wired, wireless and Data Center (domestic and international).  Without the resource the LAN team isn’t able to continue to improve the network and move on strategic initiatives.

2.            Please describe the project work, and what do day-to-day responsibilities look like:

               On an average day 65% to 70% of the day is focused on strategic work (project work).  The other 30% to 35% is spent on operational issues.  The team is currently engaged in F5 refresh, CoLo move, preparing for WF integration, Device Segmentation, and WLC refresh.  PFG is also looking for a candidate who is able to script to reduce the amount of manual work that needs to be consistently completed.  It’s a great time to be a part of putting their designs in place for the next 10 years so PFG becomes more Internet centric.

5.            What is the size and culture of the team?

-              The team is currently five people with this team member being the sixth.  The LAN team has three Senior techs and the two other staff are highly experienced.  They are a self sufficient team that tends to go off and work on separate projects but there is a sense of when they need to come together to work.  All team members bounce ideas off each other and are available to help peers troubleshoot issues when needed and no matter time of day.

 

 

Qualifications:
Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) and 6+ years work experience or equivalent experience. Proven experience as an IT professional. Basic knowledge of insurance and financial services products preferred. Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills required. Proficiency with database applications, knowledge of mainframe, distributed and/or web programming language. Basic leadership skills preferred. Excellent time management skills preferred. Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Must have the desire and ability to learn new technology and continuously grow. Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners. Some travel may be required, including overnight stays. May be required to provide on-call support.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with LAN solutions for large enterprises (including Cisco Nexus) analyzing, troubleshooting, and investigating Network and Data Center related systems.

• Experience automating network deployments and configurations using Ansible (or similar language) or automation orchestrator.

• Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and supporting Cisco ACI.

• Ability to manage multiple efforts by establishing timelines and executing tasks in accordance with timelines.

• 5+ years of experience with IP routing protocols including Layer 2 (including Multi-VLAN architectures) and Layer 3 routing (OSPF, BGP, RIP, EIGRP, HSRP, QoS) in a large enterprise environment.

• Strong experience with enterprise security and network-based segmentation solutions such as: firewalls, private VLANs, Cisco ISE, etc.

• Ability to configure and support one or more of the major Application Delivery Controller appliances (Citrix NetScaler, F5 BigIP, etc).

• Design, build and support Cisco wireless infrastructure that utilize the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller platform.

• Experience with virtual datacenter (VMware) and virtual switching environments.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication and decision-making skills.
