Job Description

The IT Project Manager II (PM II) sets enhanced objectives for self and others. Monitors performance trends and identifies opportunities to improve standards. Provides regular feedback and suggests alternative approaches necessary to ensure that organizational objectives and superior standards are achieved. They are active in planning, implementing and managing change for the organization. Assesses the impact of planned enterprise-wide change and builds contingency plans to support change efforts. Communicates planned changes and participates in activities that promote organizational change.
The PM II is expected to work more autonomously and have less interaction with their HR/Project Leader, with regards to project management methodology. Through collaboration, demonstrates leadership when engaging the team to validate project delivery recommendations. Generally able to navigate business sponsor relationships.
The PM II is able to navigate project management lifecycle, with little to no support and may be asked to review/contribute to PM methodology. They are assigned to small, medium, or large projects and generally assigned to multiple projects depending on mix. They may be assigned as a contributor PM on programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Follows a defined project management methodology, accountable for the detailed planning of steps and resources needed to meet objectives.
• Monitors and prepares reports to ensure work is progressing to meet the deliverables on time and on or under budget.
• Manages multiple and medium to large capital and non-capital projects simultaneously.
• Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
• Effectively applies IT’s methodology and enforces project standards.
• Ensures that in-flights reviews and quality assurance procedures take place for all projects.
• Minimizes IT s exposure and risk on projects. Solves conflicts and issues in a timely manner, escalating to manager as appropriate.
• Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
• Manages project budget. Ensures quality control for all projects.
• Effectively communicates relevant project information to leadership.
• Provides leadership to lower level Project Managers.
• Provides leadership to multi-disciplinary teams, as well as manages work of outside consultants.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Operations Research, Public Health Administration, or another related field.
Certification:
PMP (Desired)
Experience:
• 3+ years of information systems experience.
• 5+ years project management experience.
• Project management experience in health care required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Understanding of Finance and Accounting principles in relation to project budgets, purchasing and analysis of financial results
• Negotiation skills
• Team Leadership
• Communication for results
• Decisiveness familiarity with multiple decision-making models or disciplines. Able to differentiate between assumptions, perspectives and historical framework
• Solid understanding of the key operating issues and players
• Possess thorough understanding of project management phases, techniques and tools.
• Possess strong and tested project management skills, including risk management.
• Proven abilities in problem management, process analysis and root cause analysis.
• Adheres to Dignity Health Project Management Methodologies as defined within the IT Project Management guide
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a complex and matrixed team environment.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule and meet deadlines.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project & Word
• Knowledge of Information Systems (software, hardware, network)
• Knowledge of the architectural system components, business processes and applications to minimize the impact of changes in software, hardware or network.
• A passionate desire to grow, learn and advance.
• Manages the project management delivery. Has a demonstrated and proven background in project management principles, techniques and best practices.
• Prepares and manages project documentation, deliverables, milestones, resources, schedules, and budgets.
• Manages project teams and building relationships with stakeholders at a variety of levels.
• Possess quality presentation skills and experience in presenting complex plans and designs to executive-level management.
• Does not have HR responsibilities
