Position Title: ETL Developer

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Must Have

• Ascential DataStage
• DataStage, SQL, understanding of dimensionally-designed databases, and experience interacting with a relational database (DB2, Oracle, etc.). Mainframe experience would be a bonus, but not required. Ability to analyze complex data flows and understand existing jobs.
• DB2

• Basic IBM Mainframe COBOL and JCL Skills

 

JOB DESCRIPTION GENERAL FUNCTION:

There are several teams across the Information Technology Division responsible for building data structures in support of the Reporting and Analytic needs. The Lead ETL Developer role is a position responsible for the Design, Development, Testing, and Support of these databases. A key component of the role is to also act as a Technical Lead interfacing with offshore development partners and as a mentor to more junior level team members. The incumbent may possess a level of autonomy to succeed at this level.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

 

Performing development and analysis within the Data Warehouse. The team works Kanban style, and is a mix of on- and off-shore developers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, Code, Test, and Document mappings/transformations of load routines to the Data Warehouse or Data Marts.
• Translation of Functional Specifications into Technical Design Specifications for off-shore development team.
• May serve as an individual contributor on smaller initiatives, or as a member of a development team on larger initiatives.
• Function as Technical Lead to junior resources or our off-shore development team.
• May be asked to tune SQL statements to ensure optimal performance.
• Provide input on physical database design decisions.
• Trouble shoot and problem solve data integrity issues.
• Maintain documentation in corporate data dictionary.
• May provide 24 x 7 production support.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES REQUIRED:

• 7+ years of related experience.
• Proficient in SQL.
• General understanding of Data Modeling principles.
• General knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) concepts, and working knowledge of 3rd party ETL tool.
• Knowledge of DataStage and/or Job Control Language (JCL) a plus.
• Scripting skills (SQL, AQT, Shell) a plus.

 

o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or comparable with 7+ years of experience

o Strong Knowledge of Amazon Web Services

o Strong Knowledge of Terraform

o Strong Knowledge of GitHub, Jenkins, and other DevOps tools

o Familiarity with RESTful networking

o Understanding of Software Development Methodologies

o Understanding of security best practices

o Strong problem solving skills

o Strong collaboration skills

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
