JOB DETAIL

 

 

 

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • The Senior MySQL DBA will have responsibility primarily for MySQL database technologies (current version 5.7.26 and some older ones at 5.7.18).

 

Typical work-related activities include:

  • Install, patch, upgrade, configure, tune, and maintain MySQL and Oracle databases
  • Ability to Support Production (24x7) in an on-call environment, as well as non-production systems
  • Ability to review and implement changes in accordance with PNC Policy and Industry Best Practice
  • Troubleshoot critical performance bottlenecks for MySQL databases
  • Review and assess the impact of database design changes prior to their implementation
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and Vendors to resolve complex and multi-disciplinary issues
  • Work independently and represent database group in various projects
  • Ensure that databases are monitored, maintained, backed up, and available as appropriate.
  • Manage database security with an adherence to PNC’s security policy
  • Review stress testing results and provide recommendations to development teams
  • Automate management tasks, streamline processes, and perform standard administrative functions
  • Mentor, assist, encourage, and serve as a backup to other team members cross-platform

 

Top Must-Have Skills / Candidate Requirements:

  • Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines
  • Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
  • Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
  • Hands on experience in Requirement Analysis, Architecture Design, and hardware planning of MySQL database
  • Strong knowledge of ODBC/JDBC client/server communication
  • Experience with Monyog / OEM MySQL Monitoring and Compliance is a Plus
  • Automation experience with ‘shell’ and ‘SQL’ scripting
  • Experience in high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Analytical skills necessary to perform troubleshooting of errors and performance issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Results-oriented and able to work across the organization as an individual contributor
  • Ability to work in a rapidly transforming organization

  • Highly specialized in Performance Tuning, Database Refreshes from Prod to Lower Envs, Oracle Enterprise Manager 12/13c with installation and configuration of emails and alerts.
  • Experience with implementing Oracle Golden Gate for Oracle 12c/18c as Active/Active configuration. Experience with Oracle 12c, Oracle 18c, and GoldenGate 13.X.
