Cobol Programmer 

Location: Greenville SC

Mandatory Skills:

• SQL Server (Conversion of Flat Files)
• Unix Environment
• Migration to embedded SQL & Batch Processing

We are running in a Unix/Linux environment and we’re looking at using AcuSQL, a product from the Micro Focus AcuCOBOL-GT platform, to enable embedded SQL access to data via COBOL. We’ll be replacing file I/O calls with SQL calls and cursor operations. The system is a client/server system that’s not very similar to how a mainframe application functions. That said, the parts we’re looking to migrate to embedded SQL, reports and mass updates, are closer to batch processing than OLTP.

Required Skills:

• 5 to 7 (ideally 8 to 10 years for one of the profile)  years of experience in Cobol programming & MSSQL Server
• Cobol Acu4GL Skills
• Hand on expertise on MS SQL Server
• Converting flat file to MS SQL Server experience
• Optimize & Performance tune  the application to comply with requirements during conversion
