Client  is looking for an Azure Cosmos DB Consultant to join our team. This position focuses on the driving migrations from competing Data platforms like MongoDB, Apache Cassandra & Tinkerpop’s Gremlin to Azure Cosmos DB platform & implementation of Azure Cosmos DB for mission critical applications that require a globally distributed, multi-model database service for operational & analytics workloads, No-ETL analytics over real-time operational data, Real-time IoT device telemetry & Real-time retail services, etc. The focus is on working w/ customers, partners & engineering to drive the use of Azure Cosmos DB on solutions like the ones mentioned before. Help customers make technical decisions to build tomorrow’s business & IT solutions based on Microsoft technology. Lead technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, architecture design sessions, proofs of concept, & pilots to explain, demonstrate, & prove to our largest customers the capabilities of Microsoft Analytics & Business Intelligence products & services, & how we can make their businesses more successful.

Required Technical Experience:

·      Knowledge on creation & management of Cosmos DB resources like databases, containers & querying data from it, definition of unique keys, configuration of indexing policies & management of Cosmos DB using PowerShell &/or Azure CLI

·      Time spent on data partitioning & best practices like partitioning & horizontal scaling, synthetic partition key & data modeling

·      Knowledge on Global distribution implementation & optimization considering elements like: Configuring the right consistency level according to the needs, performance & high availability, conflict types & resolution policies, multi-master configuration, custom synchronization configuration, etc. 

·      Knowledge on Provisioned Throughput by estimating provisioning the required throughput by the application at database & container level & scaling using Azure Functions timer

·      Exp migrating Oracle DBs to Cosmos DB SQL API using Striim, Oracle DBs to Cosmos DB Cassandra API using Striim, Oracle DBs/Apache Cassandra to Cosmos DB using Blitzz. Expertise on using Data migration tool – SQL API, CQL shell, Azure Database Migration Service & AzCopy/Data Migration tool – Table API 

·      Expertise in Optimizing performance & cost by optimizing data modeling while considering Query cost, Storage Cost, Reads/Writes cost, multi-region cost, query performance & throughput cost 

·      Authority in Azure Data Factory & Azure Data Lake Storage 

·      Software Development skills to write code on Java, Python, Node.js, C#.

Preferred:

·      Knowledge of storage options including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Blob Storage, JSON 

·      Previous Exp working w/ MongoDB, Cassandra DB, Gremlin, etc. 

·      Exp in a DevOps culture supporting live site 

·      Exp w/ Continuous Delivery practices, TDD 

·      Exp in Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) & REST 

·      Exp in delivery thru agile practices - preferably Scrum 

·      Knowledge in Azure Spark/Azure Databricks 

·      Authority regarding Azure Functions, Azure Container Services 

·      Ability to translate technology capabilities into business capabilities 

·      Application development lifecycle, discovering patterns & practices 

·      Solution architecture design, Big Data & Distributed processing of data architecture 

·      Inclusion of quality attributes in solution designs (security, availability, resilience, performance, scalability, cost, usability).

·      Ability to evaluate end-user business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and then develop and implement the appropriate technical solutions

·      Have experience working in large-scale IT projects

·      Strong presentation skills

·      Able to display balance between business and technical acumen

·      Be positive, comfortable with teamwork and focused on agility

·      Be gifted with interpersonal communication amongst diverse team members

·      Demonstrate professional rigor and thoroughness

·      Fluent English speaking.
