ULL Network Engineer/Deployment Management Specialist

Position Description

Provide expert level network engineering to support a wide range deployment activities with a focus on routing and switching and the Cisco product line.  Support both routine changes and large projects in colocation facilities, data center, extranets, and the trading floor.  Projects will range from the design and build-outs of new locations and silos to the rollout of new features and functionality for global initiatives in support of global market data applications, financial systems and infrastructure involving high volume low latency securities trading.

The engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions leveraging and expanding on existing design standards, liaising with internal customers as required, raising changes as needed and deploying new technologies as required by the project.  He/she will also responsible for delivering the requisite level of network resiliency and for testing network failover.

Additionally, the engineer will support project managers and the regional management team in project planning, tracking, and reporting when required.  Lastly, he/she is expected to mentor junior team members as well as train in areas of subject matter expertise.

Job Requirements

 

Essential Skills:

  • 10+ years’ experience working in a corporate global network environment
  • 5+ years of experience in managing Ultra Low Latency (ULL) DC environment in Financial institutions (Preferred if he has worked with Deutsche Bank earlier)
  • Strict adherence to change procedures and design/configuration guidelines
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and support multiple projects
  • Exhibit a high degree of integrity
  • Self-starter and disciplined in your approach to work
  • Ability to evaluate emerging risks and solid business judgement

Technical Skills and Certifications:

  • Expertise in routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRF, NAT, ACL’s and IP Multicast routing
  • Cisco CCNP or CCDP certified (Routing and Switching preferred)
  • Strong experience multicast market data
  • Strong experience in real time data
  • Hands-on experience with CISCO ASR/ISR routers, Nexus 3K and 5K, and Catalyst 2K, 3K, 4K and 6K platforms
  • Familiarity with DNS, DHCP, Netflow
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including Excel and Visio

Desirable Skills and Certifications:

  • Cisco CCIE certified (Routing and Switching preferred)
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certified
  • Experience with Arista, Corvil, latency analysis
  • Experience supporting traders and trade support staff
  • Familiarity with SAN, databases, and other IT technologies outside of networks
  • Project management awareness, including developing bill of materials for project cost proposals
  • Awareness privacy or regulatory procedures and standards that are required in the financial services industry

Language Required:

English fluency

Special Circumstances:

e.g. travel, shift patterns

Travel is limited to the New York/New Jersey metroplex.   Work on weekends and in evenings during the week is expected.
