Job Description ::
• Install, configure, and maintain Apache Cassandra database clusters
• Optimize and tune Cassandra database for performance
• Assist in managing other database platforms – Oracle, PostgreSQL
• Analyze data access patterns and identify hotspots and bottlenecks
• Design and review data models, and help developers plan high performing queries
• Define and establish best practices with Cassandra, including configuration, monitoring health and backups of the cluster
• Manage storage capacity of the cluster and help plan for growth
• Experience with Cassandra data modeling and CQL scripting
• Diagnose and troubleshoot production issues as needed, produce documentations, and share learning with peers
• Participate in on-call pager rotation for reactive support and respond to monitoring alerts in a timely manner
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies
• Assume other responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
• 5+ years of solid Cassandra DBA experience in managing critical 24/7 applications
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and Oracle databases is plus
• Hands-on experience with multi-terabyte Cassandra database
• Experience with Large Scale database migrations (On-prem to Cloud, On-prem to On-prem)
• Understanding of server and storage technology, especially in the area of High Availability
• Experience in supporting app teams for database design and performance tuning activities
• Experience handling multi-terabyte databases and high transaction volumes
• Must be highly proficient in performance tuning and proactive monitoring
• Solid team player with a positive attitude and team spirit – can work alone and with others
• Ability to mentor team members
• Communicates well (oral and written) with customers and management
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
