           Monitoring and Observability Platforms

The main charter for this New Monitoring Federation team is to successfully roll out New Monitoring Platform by working closely with various product development teams in PayPal and subsidiaries.

Current Monitoring platform that is based on CAL/Sherlock is not meeting the scale/needs of growing PayPal traffic. So there is a need for high available, scalable platform that meets the needs of current/Future organic growth of PayPal Inc.

The role of the engineer in Monitoring Federation team is to help successfully roll out the capabilities of New monitoring platform that leverages Splunk and SignalFx. She/he should understand the Product Development monitoring use cases in PayPal and help them to migrate the use case to new monitoring platform. The person should be quick learner and adept in learning new skills and technologies by working alongside other PayPal Employees in the Federation team.

To be part of the team that is transforming the ever green monitoring landscape in PayPal with new technologies and tools like Splunk, SignalFX.

 The successful candidate will gain an enterprise view/exposure of Monitoring systems in financial institutions that he/she can’t ordinarily get in other job settings.

 The successful candidate will gain an experience how to handle situations that arises in a team that interacts with different geographical locations and across 500+ different teams.               

 Candidate Requirements               

•         Years of experience required

•         Degrees or certifications required

•         Disqualifiers at resume level

•         Best vs. average at resume level

•         Preferred Performance indicators 10+ Yrs Exp leading technical solutions at a large scale of data volumes and transactions. Ability to work closely with remote teams to help guide them with technical solutions and deliveries.

 2+ years’ experience in Observability (Monitoring, Alerting, Logging) is required. Experience with setting up Monitoring Solutions like Splunk/SignalFX and data pipelines to push data into these systems is preferred.

Proficiency with puppet, ansible, understanding of networking (load balancers, firewalls), terraform, Databases is required.

Experience with Public Cloud environment is highly recommended - GCP preferred.

Ability to work with Java in a stream processor solution like Storm/Flink would be preferred. Experience with GoLang is highliy desriable.
