Basic Function:

The Data (or Information) Architect is the technical resource responsible for analyzing and recommending efficiencies at the enterprise level for data collections, integrations, linkages warehousing, and incorporating complex cross functional analytics and reporting under the leadership of the Director of Enterprise Architecture. The Data Architect is responsible for participating in the creation and evolution of a technology roadmap that defines data architectures enabling a solid enterprise data strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversees the implementation of a discipline and approach for information/data assets, and data conversion of IT projects
2. Develops the ecosystem-wide guidelines and standards for cataloging and maintaining data repositories
3. Develops single source data and system of records strategy
4. Maintains ecosystem-wide integrity of the data model by ensuring that data design and transformation procedures are implemented and followed
5. Participates in the design of the information/data architecture, across multiple data types
6. Participates in the development of a usable information architecture, which may include a data model, associated metamodel, common business vocabulary, ontologies and taxonomies, which will then be used to guide solution development and achieve consistency of information assets across the application portfolio
7. Responsible for analyzing and recommending efficiencies at the enterprise level for data collections, integrations, linkages, warehousing, and incorporating complex cross functional analytics and reporting
8. Leads Requirements meetings for new data requests and functionality with internal and external stakeholders
9. Manage Business Product Owner and Stakeholder expectations
10. Provides data as required to assist business requests and external agencies
11. Research, analyze and promote data standards and methodologies to be used across the enterprise
12. Identifies the information/data that the Institute produces and consumes
13. Identifies user requirements by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods and studies how users consume content
14. Leads the design of the information/data architecture, across multiple data types
15. Coordinates new development activities and ensures they are consistent and well integrated with the established ecosystem information architecture
16. Work with a team to build a holistic view of the organization's strategy, processes, information and information technology assets
17. Oversees and Conducts data audits, cleansing and de-deduplication projects to clean data
18. Provides leadership in development of ETL processes for data migration and integration projects
19. Provides data governance leadership to manage and use data to its fullest

Key Qualifications:

1. We are looking for an applicant with the following required qualifications:
   1. Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data management, information systems or related field from an accredited college or university.
   2. Ten (10) years of experience in a technical solution design or data architect role.
   3. Demonstrated experience with data modeling, common information architecture frameworks, master data management, data warehousing, business intelligence
   4. Experience using architectural methodologies and frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman and ArchiMate
   5. Experience in system architecture, normalization considerations and in intersystem communication strategies, including ESB, iPaaS, and web services
   6. Solid experience with an ETL tool (ex. SSIS, Boomi, or Informatica Power Centre, Mulesoft, Oracle)
   7. Experience with master data management projects and practices an asset

8. Excellent working knowledge of MS office suite
9. Experience with Agile methodology and techniques to support PMO office in planning and prioritization
10. Excellent working knowledge in visual communication using modeling languages such as UML and IDEF

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Know principles of enterprise information architecture and modeling.
2. Experience in working with structured methodologies e.g. Agile, SDLC
3. Strong presentation and client facing skills.
4. Knowledge of target industry is preferred

7. Capability to get results in a fast paced, complex, often ambiguous environment.
