User Experience (UX) Designer

Call Notes:
- They need a strong UX Designer for a temporary backfill (maternity leave) – only expected to go 9 months and no extensions as of right now. Looking for ASAP start – ideally in January. February is target but anything before is a plus. The woman going on leave is leaving mid to late March.
- They’d like to see short resume (2-3 pages if possible).
- It’s not required, but if they have a crisp, clean portfolio they can provide w/ some data visualization that would be a huge plus.
- Strong overall design skills needed. Need to be very creative.
- Need to be able to provide rapid prototyping and design, workflows, etc.
- Will be a lot of give & take with feedback, so they need to be able to take criticism and respond quickly and rework and re-deliver. Rough drafts ready ASAP; may go to C-level execs.
- Soft skills and communication skills need to be very high-level – this is as important as the technical skills.
- Need to be able to interpret requirements and help with the visualization of those requirements, user stories, etc.
- Need skills/experience in data visualization, web-based design, and print media.
- Will be working w/ the dev team – they do not need to know how to develop, but at least ‘speak the language’ and communicate with them.
- The woman being replaced was the captain of her lacrosse team in college. She literally spoke about that and how it relates to her success in this role for 10 minutes straight. I’m not joking.
Description:
- We are seeking a User Experience Designer to create engaging user experiences for our myFiserv Business Intelligence and Interactive Portal.
- You will be part of a fast-moving team that is focused on making our app successful in an actively evolving organization.
- The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker able to understand business goals and functional requirements, and translate those ideas into creative, innovative, and functional design concepts.
- The User Experience Designer role works closely with other associates, including functional Enterprise Portfolio Leadership, Portfolio Managers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, and Software Engineers, to design and implement software interfaces that are easy for our business units as well as executive leadership to use and that are aesthetically pleasing.
Responsibilities:
- Create user friendly, effective, and engaging user interfaces for the myFiserv portal
- Strategize and formulate user experience decisions for critical business solutions
- Work with Enterprise Portfolio Leadership to rapidly prototype and iterate on design solutions
- Review final implementation with developers to ensure design standards are followed
- Work across teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders on the Business Functional and Engineering teams
- Provide/take inspiration and constructive feedback to/from others
- Create final visual designs, prototypes, design documentation, interaction flows, and guidelines
- Craft interaction solutions that meet both user needs and Enterprise Portfolio strategy requirements
Required Skills:
- 2+ years as a member of a user experience design team
- Exceptional skill in interaction design, visual design, wireframing, and user flows
- Strong desire to practice user-centered design
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong skills in mediating and resolving competing requirements and designs
- Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and to switch rapidly between different projects
- Experience in Axure, similar software UxD prototyping tools, and/or Adobe Creative Suite
Bonus Skills:
- Design in both agile and waterfall development environments
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience working with development frameworks such as Angular and Bootstrap
- Keep up to date on new user experience design methodology, trends, principles, and technologies
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
