The DM will then have to convert the LDM to a physical data model, walk the development team through the model, and then work with the responsible DBA to implement the model in a schema. The DM will have to develop a detailed knowledge of the underlying data and data products within the enterprise and become the subject matter expert (SME) on content, current and potential future uses of data, and the quality and interrelationship between core elements of the data repository and data products. The DM must be able to define how the information will be captured, retained and exploited. This individual must possess a combination of business knowledge, technical skills, and people skills to define and guide data strategies for projects. The successful candidate must be able to provide technical and data leadership to the application development group and other IT groups within the enterprise by being conversant with these teams, and cognizant of the future direction of systems, and a) how that direction will impact the enterprise, b) how future and current systems can be exploited for the benefit of the enterprise.Job Duties:The data modeler serves a critical role in the understanding, documentation, analysis, and design of proposed systems.
