Description:

Job Responsibilities:

 

Maintain responsibility for implementing and maintaining one or more complex databases.

Analyze the design, development, and delivery or implementation of data solutions, including:

Architecture design, prototyping of concepts to proof of concept, analysis of the development of standards, design, and test plans, code, module design development and testing, data solution debugging, design and implementation of a solution that follows efficient design techniques, and development that meets and exceeds the intent of the design of the data solution.

Assist with the planning and engineering of the organization's databases.

Monitor performance, scalability, and security and evaluate existing database design to determine the necessary updates and integration requirements of a new design and to ensure final solutions meet organizational needs. 

 

Experience Required:

 

5+ years of experience with supporting Linux systems engineering efforts in system design and evaluation, solution engineering, software development, or system administration

5+ years of experience with a scripting language (BASH or PYTHON preferred, PERL or RUBY acceptable)

3+ years of experience with a complex build system

3+ years of experience configuring, integrating, and securing multiple AWS database offerings (ex. RDS, Aurora, Casandra, and Dynamo) 

Experience leading and mentoring other DBAs

Experience with Database Schema as Code tools

Experience designing large enterprise solutions (ex. high availability, disaster recovery, data management)

Experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of Oracle

Experience with Database Replication (Oracle GoldenGate or Amazon DMS preferred)

Experience working in an AWS environment, including experience with VPC’s, Security Groups, RDS and CloudWatch.

Ability to design and develop complex SQL queries and reports to retrieve required data

Experience with database partitioning and microservices

Knowledge of Agile methodologies or the software development life cycle (SDLC)

 

Experience Preferred:

 

2 years of experience configuring, integrating, and securing multiple AWS database offerings, including RDS, Aurora, Casandra, and Dynamo

Experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or other RDBMS variants

Experience with Cloud-native database solutions, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) Relational Database Service (RDS) and DynamoDB

Experience analyzing and tuning queries to improve performance

Experience with Liquibase source control tool

Experience with code reviews on SQL change sets and work with developers to create and enforce best practices

Exposure to security scanning tools, configuring their use and working with teams to fix vulnerabilities

 

Education Required:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline
