JOB DESCRIPTION

This DevOps engineer opening is on our Cloud Data Movement (CDM) - Platform team. This agile team works to automate, build and manage a number of critical platforms to enable our nextGen enviorement in the Cloud. This team owns AWS MSK / Kafka, Apache NiFi, Snowflake (cloud datawarehouse solution) and monitoring and self-service tooling around those technologies.

• AWS hands-on experience and working knowledge
• DevOps knowledge, background of automation
• Working knowledge of DevOps pipelines (Terraform ideally (or CloudFormation), Jenkins)
• Working knowledge of Linux
• Experience developing on a Mac
• Working knowledge of at least one OO programming language (bonus for strength here, extra bonus if have Java Sprint Boot experience)
• Data movement experience
• Does not necessarily have to be NiFi, but related technologies like Glue or Pentaho would also work
• Familiarity with event-driven design
• At least 5 years of experience with the above
• Nice to have: Event driven architecture, pub/sub, Kafka, Lambda/ serverless architectures, ECS

Additionally, some soft skills to consider when talking to people:

• Working with external stakeholders to solution new use cases
• Strong communication
• Agile
• A “scrambler” – meaning we are doing a lot on this agile team, this person has to be okay with context switching
• Experience with Data warehouses
