Job Description

Avilamb is seeking to fill Cloud Administrator positions in support of VA (Veterans Affairs) Cloud Operations and Migration Services (COMS) capability to provide operational input and support for the operations, maintenance, and refinement of VA’s Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) environment, execution support for migrating new and legacy VA applications and services to cloud computing and continuous improvement of VA’s IT infrastructure. The candidate will support our VA clients in their cloud operations to enhance, optimize, and maintain their computing capabilities across their technology landscape. This includes working with our Cloud Architects when interviewing clients to understand application and infrastructure current state. Working with our Cloud Architects leading client working sessions to identify, categorize, prioritize and analyze data and information to work into cloud migration action plans. Working with the larger project teams to migrate legacy applications to their cloud platform. The Cloud Administrator must have expertise with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS). 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist Cloud Architects to provide operations and migration services that enable VA to tailor the availability and delivery of cloud computing services based on business and technical requirements
  • Utilize the future VA Enterprise Cloud Operational Tools (VAECOT), CSP native portals and tools, and/or other Customer TRM-approved tools necessary to provide operations and migration support
  • Utilize automation tool such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar
  • Advanced automation skills with Terraform and Ansible
  • Assist with upgrading, installing, and configure monitoring solution for AWS for Windows and Linux servers
  • Maintain gold images/scripts
  • Assisting with reporting on current infrastructure status, and planning for future usage

 

Must Have Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Graduate of Technical School, or equivalent (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • An Intermediate Cloud Analyst must have experience with implementing, migrating, managing, and operating systems/applications in an enterprise cloud computing environment.
  • The Intermediate Cloud Analyst should have subject matter in at least one of the VAEC Cloud Service Providers which currently includes Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Able to pass a background check to obtain a Public Trust (High-Risk) Position
  • Must be a U.S. citizen (We’ll look a green-card older if there is an exceptional candidate which includes solid communication skills)

Preferred Qualifications (soft skills, preferred, nice to have)

  • Active clearance for Public Trust (High-Risk) Position
  • Provide technical support for the Nessus scanning solution including execution of scans, scan result breakdown and remediation of findings
  • Developing and analyzing security policies, procedures, and technical standards
  • Experience with network and/or systems administration in Linux/Unix and/or Windows environments
  • Experience conducting security assessments as it relates to Risk Management Framework.
  • Maintain knowledge of security regulations, best practices, countermeasures, compliance standards and current threats
  • Create technical documents and how-to guides and other deliverables
  • Provide assistance to system users relative to information systems security matters
  • Experience working in a CMMI-DEV or CMMI-SVC environment at Maturity Level 3 or above
  • One or more Amazon cloud certifications
  • Previous Federal Government experience preferably at VA
  • A minimum of 3 years, 5 years preferred, of relevant hands-on experience cloud experience in administering Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps model
  • Experience with at least one configuration technology including: Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.Experience administering or maintaining CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, JIRA, Bamboo, DevOps, Gitlab, for large-scale operations.
  • Experience managing source-code repositories utilizing git (Bitbucket, Gitlab, etc.)
  • Proficiency with CI/CD Pipeline tools.
