Position: Sr. System Administrator 

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Job Description:

As a member of the Infrastructure Systems team, the Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for day-to-day operations of the storage and virtualization systems located in the Campus Data Center, as well as cloud-based compute and storage. The Systems Administrator will participate in configuration, installation, upgrades, and capacity planning in conjunction with other team members. Duties include management and provisioning of storage systems including primary, backup, and disaster recovery; troubleshooting and maintenance of virtualization platforms and storage systems, management of resources including maintenance of asset inventories, developing system documentation and diagrams, and interacting with customers to determine analyze requests and requirements. The Systems Administrator will independently develop project plans, schedules for the implementation of system installations and configurations. The Systems Administrator will also provide support for incidents or outages, conduct root cause analysis and document solution within defined service levels; provides after hours or, on call support as assigned or requested.

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience with Nimble, EMC Isilon, and/or ExaGrid storage technologies.
  • Possess broad technical skills with various fiber channel and file-based storage systems.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in Virtualization and Storage Engineering or Administration; Extensive experience with managing VMware vCenter and ESX/ESXi hosts in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Cisco UCS compute platforms.
  • Ability to integrate industry standard practices and principals into design and configuration of systems.
  • Ability to read and accurately develop technical documentation and diagrams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of IP networking, including switching and routing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of backup, restoration, and disaster recovery principles; prefer experience with Veeam.
  • Possess the verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization; ability to use standard English grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and prepare project plans and schedules with only general guidance; skill in estimating time and effort required for software tasks and projects.
  • Ability and willingness to work after-hours as needed or assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems (or related) OR equivalent relevant professional experience and education.
