JOB DETAIL

Staff supplementation – Application system development and support activities. Assignment in a state-wide mainframe COBOL/CICS/DB2 environment supporting the State Unemployment Insurance systems. This position will assist DWD applications development staff support mainframe COBOL/CICS, and DB2 systems. Candidates must have proven experience and understanding of the full system development life cycle of applications development. DB2, VSAM, and CICS mainframe application experience and proficiency in COBOL development of code with very strong analytical skills ARE REQUIRED. Successful candidates must also have an excellent understanding of problem resolution and testing. These positions will function as part of the mainframe applications development support team and will get their direction from lead workers within the unit. The successful candidates must have excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent ‘people skills’.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with business knowledge of Wisconsin's unemployment insurance program and familiarity with State of Wisconsin application systems, procedures, and development standards.

Comments: Due to the nature of this position, a criminal background check or other checks may be required prior to appointment. This position has no access to sensitive federal tax information. DWD Work Location Details during COVID-19: The contractor must be able to commute daily into DWD office headquarters in Madison WI. During the COVID-19 pandemic:

• The contractor will have to come into the DWD office located in Madison, WI to get their workstations and necessary orientation training, which is expected to about two weeks.

• After training is complete, the contractor must have the capability to work remotely for the foreseeable future

• DWD will determines when it is safe for staff to work in the DWD Office located in Madison, WI. It is expected that staff will resume pre-COVID-19 in-office work as directed by DWD management.
