Job Description:
- A major financial Institution is looking for a seasoned Database Engineer experienced in new database and application development to work in close partnership with application engineering team members in support of an application modernization initiatives for a major financial institution.
- The scope of this work will focus on the creation of the User Interface, Middleware Services, and Database components.
Job Duties:
- Work in close partnership with key engineering and architecture team members to define target state database design elements.
- Support and assist with the database analysis of legacy applications and data structures in use to establish a baseline for the future application database environment.
- Support Application Development efforts by working closely with client SMEs and Java. Development leads to translate database procedures into new DB environment in Java services.
- Pro-actively identify interdependencies to support successful Java and Restful services implementation.
- Aid programmers during development, responding to questions and providing guidance when necessary.
Required Skills/Background:
- 8-10 years Application Engineering experience.
- Heavy financial backgroud experience is must
- Proficient in DB2 database engineer.
- New Database design and Implementation experience including design, implementation and maintenance of a new database solution for optimal performance, availability and integrity.
- Experience with DB2 Physical Database Modeling.
- Knowledge and experience with Java Services and RESTful Services.
- Understands stored procedures, SQL, SQL queries and performance optimization.
- High aptitude and experience in DB2 Development techniques.
- Knowledge of an/or experience with Application Development practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Financial Services industry experience required.
- Agile and Devops practices a plus.
