JOB DETAIL

 

Required Skills:

  • Expert level experience with Palo Alto Networks – app ID, threat ID, device group management, rule processing, etc.
  • Experience deploying virtual Palo Alto and integrates with Panorama.
  • Expert level experience deploying Palo Alto firewalls from setup to deployment
  • Expert level experience with Panorama Templates and device groups.
  • Experience with Networking fundamentals – routing/OSI model/subnetting
  • Good communication with team and able to speak with multiple levels of business (PMs, Architects, Leads, team members)
  • Culture fit: Able to work with a team as well as independently. Able to communicate issues and not afraid to ask team for help. Open to learning new functions and skillsets (though not required to expand past the original role, knowing more about other processes and technologies helps with troubleshooting).
  • Must be able to think outside the box, issues come in all shapes, must be able to dynamically adjust for troubleshooting and triage of issues.

Additional good to have skills:

  • Knowledge of cisco ASA and FWSM
  • Understand the concepts of virtualization, VMware, VSphere, ESX experience
  • NSX experience to help with steering and push traffic from layer 6 up to Palo Alto.
  • Good understanding of NSX and Virtual Palo Alto’s to see where improves can be made for security posture and what steps to do it.
  • Visio would be a PLUS

Day to Day:

  • Firewall implementation both green and brownfields. Firewall migration from Cisco to PAN firewalls or from PAN to PAN.
  • Project support: project implementation and modification of existing firewalls or addition of new firewalls.
  • Tier 3 troubleshooting: Complex troubleshooting of issues which seem to not have a reasonable solution.
  • Support of Ops team with troubleshooting and overall attempting to streamline our firewall architecture to make support of the environment easier
  • Some late nights will be required for implementation, no on-call required.
