Maintain Cassandra clusters and daily Operations; upgrade; and meeting application needs.

Provide application development teams with basic data modeling advice.

Troubleshoot Cassandra performance problems on a variety of underlying storage models (including spinning disks, tiered storage, and NVMe flash).

Plan for long-term Cassandra architecture and capacity. The requirements of our largest cluster are roughly doubling in 2016.

Streamline operations with our configuration management system (we use Chef).

Work with the rest of the Operations team to achieve our overall goals.

Experience in managing production Cassandra clusters

Experience with Unix like systems (such as Centos)

Familiarity with building Cassandra or applying patches a plus

Experience with ZFS use and administration a plus

Familiarity with Python and Fabric a plus

Excellent troubleshooting skills

Ability to work both independently with little supervision as well as in a team environment
