BI Data Modeler

looking for a BI Data Modeler for a 6-18 month contract. Remote for at least the first 6 months, onsite in Madison, Wisconsin with a 12 month extension. .
You will be responsible for creating criminal history data infrastructure with complete documentation of metadata, business rules and technical details. The department is implementing a new data management tool and this position will play a role in creating and maintaining a change management process to use the tool and new processes for all data documentation purposes.
- This position will contribute to a large project and will be essential in building data foundations to provide more data services across the departmenet and elevate data maturity. You will collaborate with multiple departments to build and maintain professional relationships and serve as a Data Management Ambassador in the department.
- Work closely with the Chief Data Officer, data owners, technical staff and project manager to develop project proposals, scope documents, process flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, user stories, coding specifications, test plans and occassionally assist with training documentation.
- Extensive experience engineering data flows in applications and various reporting tools, ability to design, analyze and troubleshoot IT at a systems level is critical.
Qualifications – At least 5 years of expereince with the following:
- Database design and develop workflows from relational databases
- Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence
- Understand and execute the department’s project management methodology
- Work effectively with customers to solve business challenges while balancing multiple projects
- Experience in business analysis to gather technical and functional requirements relating to Reporting
- Strong understanding of IT, Enterprise software implementation and related infrastructure
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills as well as organizational, time management and work group leadership
Nice to Have Skills
- Data Management Professional Certification
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Programming or related field with 1-3 years of work experience
- Database Tuning and Maintenance to assure highest level of system availability and performance
- State Government Experience working with a criminal justice system
