Description
The Data Developer is responsible for supporting the EquiTrust business community and IT technical direction through the development and support of data solutions and procedures. The incumbent operates in a continually changing technical environment and must maintain a working knowledge of the application systems and development standards. This position requires knowledge of relational databases and the proven ability to solve development problems.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Provides mechanisms for capturing data from different data sources.
- Develops and maintains data cleansing and transformation routines.
- Analyzes data systems and documents data elements, data flow, relationships and dependencies.
- Develops automated reusable routines for extracting requested information from database systems.
- Compiles detailed reports using data reporting tools, such as SSRS, for use by the business.
- Works in partnership with business analysts, data architects and database developers to build data transactional and warehousing systems.
- Provides support in developing enterprise wide data analysis and reporting solutions.
- Supports Information Technology team and/or other departments on an as needed basis.
- Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.
- Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Skills And Abilities:
- Intermediate experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS.
- Intermediate knowledge of data handling methods and development techniques.
- Proficiency in code versioning tools.
- Ability to proactively identify and solve problems and issues of all types; must be able to identify situations that fall outside the parameters of normal or routine activity.
- Demonstrates solid competency in the following areas: Analytical thinking, conceptual thinking, customer service orientation, effective communication skills, industry awareness, initiative, integrity and relationship management.
- Relies on professional knowledge and discretion to achieve goals. Must be able to use good judgment regarding decisions concerning problem resolution and upgrading task with regard to priority, user impact, risk mitigation and management approval.
- Ability to work effectively with all departments and affiliates to ensure integration of strategic goals and principles.
- Excellent oral, written, listening and presentation skills including the ability to clearly articulate complex information to others; must be able to communicate well with other departments, as well as external clients and customers.
Training Or Work Experience:
- If Associates degree, minimum 4 years of experience in related data development experience required.
- If Bachelors degree, minimum 3 years of experience in related data development experience required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance or finance data processing preferred.
Education:
- Associates Degree – Required Specific Degree: Computer Science or a related field of study
- Bachelors Degree - Preferred
