Job Description:

Work with Business Analysts and Business Consultants to identify
requirements and consolidate enterprise data model consistent with
business processes
· Extract business rules (business processes, business entities, etc.) from
customers – directly, or indirectly via the Business Analyst, to design the
associated model, and create all required documentation to support,
communicate, and validate the data model
· Design logical and physical models for the data marts, data warehouse or
operational applications.
· Work closely with data architecture team to ensure models are consistent
with enterprise data
· Own and develop key aspects of the information architecture, including data
models, data flow diagrams, and metadata strategy
· Communicate physical designs to the database administrator
· Evolve model to meet new and changing business requirements
· Develop process for capturing and maintaining metadata for application
components.
· Monitor projects to ensure adherence to standards and governance
processes.
· Reconcile enterprise data integration issues
· Work closely with both business users and technical staff to guide the most
effective business solutions
· Ensure that projects are following database management standards and
methodologies
· Ensure that change control processes are followed for database changes
· Develop and maintain an integrated data model representing the myriad of
subject areas, and underpinning key business processes
· Participate in peer reviews reviewing work products and providing direction
to other data modelers
· Manage data modeling libraries to ensure proper change control and
publishing models
· Evaluate and provide input to the adoption of modeling tools
· Analyze database requirements and recommend solutions for required data
security and data backup/recovery specifications
· Advises on best practices and strategic direction for data management and
help drive continuous improvement.
· Strong facilitation and negotiation skills
· Strong communication skills required, with technical and business writing
skills
· Experience in designing and developing application systems
· Demonstrated success working in team-based environment
· Must have ability to work in a matrixed environment, supporting multiple
projects or initiatives concurrently
· Must have data profiling experience

Preferred Criteria · Experience with SOA a plus

· Experience with converting relational models to XSD a plus

· Experience with healthcare industry data models a plus
· Knowledge of SQL and DB2 preferred
· Experience with decision support data management systems design
and development a plus
· Experience with cross-platform data transformation tools a plus
· Experience with Master Data Management and Data Quality desired

Qualification · BA/BS in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent
combination of education and/or experience, Master’s Degree
preferred
· > 8 years of experience as a Data Modeler in relational data
modeling, with experience in both project and enterprise level
models.
· Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, object-oriented
technology, data warehousing, and relational database engines
· Advanced proficiency in analytical, project planning, negotiating,
interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
· Familiarity with HIPAA data standards
· Proficiency in erwin Data Modeler
