APPLICATION DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
The Office of Technology Services – Project and Portfolio Management Office (PMO) is overseeing the development efforts of the Modernization projects for the Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC). The DOC oversees the custody and care of adults in prison and includes adults under probation and parole supervision.
With the responsibility and oversight of adult and populations, DOC is responsible for executing
many processes and providing various services. The Modernization efforts will focus on but not
limited to management of demographic data, housing, banking, education, release and probation
and Parole functions.
Resource Role for this Project:
The Resource for this position is expected to perform tasks such as:
· Data Architecture
· Data Modeling
· Support for specific applications using databases
The ideal candidate will demonstration expert experience administering multiple
relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL and PostgreSQL. Strong scripting skills
(PowerShell, php, python, ruby, Perl, etc.). Knowledge of database connectivity issues. Strong
analytical and troubleshooting skills.
The scope of the proposed services will include the following:
· Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading
· Database Backup and Recovery
· Performance Monitoring
· Specialized Data Handling
· Database Tuning
· Capacity Planning Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are mandatory:
· SQL Server, Administration and Performance Tuning
· Index design
· Use DMO’s to collect query data, index data
· Extended Events
· SSIS or other relevant ETL software
Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are desirable but not mandatory:
· Familiarity with Web Based Applications, Entity Framework
· Database DevOps Practices
· SSRS
· SSAS
· PowerBI/Tableau or other BI Platforms
· Data Warehousing design
· SQL Server concurrency and isolation
· Data movement features of SQL Server
