Job Description :
SR. TERADATA DBA RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and administer the company’s Teradata infrastructure.
- Responsible for operational activities of a Database Administrator such as User Management, Space Management, Troubleshooting, Data Manipulation and Backups.
- Responsible for organization, security and protection of Databases and Data.
- Design and maintain access and Security Administration policies.
- Design, implement and maintain Backup and Recovery strategies.
- Research, evaluate and recommend new policies/changes to existing Operational Procedures and templates.
- Work closely with the Development & Operations teams to provide technical guidance and recommend solutions.
- Monitor activity on Viewpoint and troubleshoot alerts
- Monitor and build Workload Management & Resource Usage reports
- Setup and monitor daily Backup and Replication jobs
- Work on Data Copy between different environments using BAR/Data Mover
- Perform periodic database monitoring, tuning and auditing activities
- Work with third party vendors to develop and/or integrate their applications into company products, ensure applications are in accordance with company guidelines
- Work with internal and external audit teams
- Documentation
- Mentor fellow Database Administrators
- Monitor and work on tickets in our queue
SR. TERADATA DBA REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ Years of relevant experience as a Database Administrator
- Excellent understanding of the Teradata Architecture and Managed Servers
- Experience with Teradata Workload Management
- Expertise with BAR, Data Copy utilities such as Data Mover to copy data between multiple environments
- Expertise with Server monitoring using Viewpoint, querying the System logs
- Proficient in Developing, Analyzing and Tuning SQL code
- Expertise with Teradata Utilities such as Fastload, MultiLoad, FastExport, TPT
- Ability to create advanced reports such as Space/Resource usage, etc for management
- Ability to design and architect solutions with a team or independently
- Ability to work with various teams to identify a root cause and solution
- Understand and adhere to Security policies and procedures
- Follow defined escalation procedures to ensure business continuity
- Experience with working on projects using the full Software Development Life Cycle
- Proficiency in Unix scripting
- Work with the Vendor on software upgrades/maintenances
- Excellent Problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to document processes and procedures
