Job Description:
We maintain about 50 web apps - working on 4 to 5 at any given time - which are built is some form of a LAMP stack. We use an open source framework called Yii, we have some that are built in an in-house framework based on Zend, and many old apps that are just procedural and not very standardized. Knowledge of LAMP is essential, as well as experience designing normalized relational databases. They will need to demonstrate their skills to the satisfaction of the team.
The person will need to be comfortable diving into any one of our 50 apps, figuring out how it works without much input from the team, and then be able to fix or modify it. There are many apps that nobody currently on the team has ever worked on, and documentation can be slim at best. And it's important that they don't introduce security flaws or poorly designed solutions. The project can be best described as adding development capacity to the team, since they may work on several different projects that are in the queue.
