JOB DETAIL

Our  Client is looking for a Lead Database Engineer that is
highly skilled in multiple technical areas including database engineering andoperations,
performance, stability and scalability, Amazon database technologies. The successful candidate willhave a strong command of designing and implementing PostgreSQL and Oracle databases. 



Candidates must  have 10 years of overall experience.  7 yearsof Postgres/Oracle experience and 2 years of Aurora PostgreSQL
The right candidate will have started as developer and gained DBexperience, including SQL tuning.
*candidates need to be hands-on with SQL to be executed from theapplication. 

Responsibilities
1. Design and implement highly scalable, interactive databases withperformance, stability and
scalability
2. Define and establish standards and best practices to implement and support Aurora PostgreSQL
database clusters, and high-performance computing environments, particularly onthe AWS
Cloud
3. Champion all database environment builds, including design, capacityplanning, cluster setup,
upgrades, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring
4. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve data and performance issues, to ensurethat database
systems meet business and performance requirements, which may include after-
hours/weekends
5. Develop and deploy alerting, monitoring, and reporting tools and dashboardsintegrated with
other cloud-based monitoring tools, to help support business requirements
6. Define and implement database backup and recovery strategies
7. Work with developers and engineers on all database related changes via codereviews, tuning,
testing, and validation
8. Performance tuning of databases to support high read/write throughput whileminimizing latency
9. Assist with data analysis by writing ad hoc queries
10. Analyze database access patterns to isolate hotspots, data model problems,and other
bottlenecks
11. Perform proactive capacity planning and forecasting based on database usagepatterns and new
business initiatives
12. Implement an effective cost management strategy for AWS databases
13. Design and support data migrations
14. Report progress and status of assigned tasks to project teams and manager
15. Provide technical leadership and motivation to junior developers
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
2. 7 years of Postgres or Oracle database development experience
3. 2 years of hands-on experience with Aurora PostgresSQL
4. Expert understanding of complex inner workings of Aurora PostgresSQL
5. Strong understanding of the Aurora Postgres data model and architectureincluding installation,
configuration of a cluster, replication, security, and best practices
6. Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redshift, Redis,etc.
7. Knowledge of data population techniques, e.g. Extract Transform Load (ETL)and Extract Load
Transform (ELT) and familiarity with Change Data Capture (CDC) tools likeGolden Gate, DMS
etc.

8. Exposure to Enterprise Data Warehouse systems with understanding of StarSchemas,
Snowflake Schemas, etc.
9. Knowledge of operating relationships between database, businessapplications, and the
operating systems
10. Familiarity within Linux Environments, able to write/maintain scripts
11. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code software, such as Terraform, andCI/CD process
12. Prior experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
13. Ability to manage day-to-day tasks independently
14. Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently
15. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
16. Strong knowledge of system security and overall IT security methodologies
17. Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies andtools
18. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
19. Relevant AWS certifications desired
