Job Description:

Our client, a telecommunications company in Maryland Heights, MO, is in need of a Oracle Automation DBA/Developer/Engineer for a nine-month contract, with the possibility of full-time conversion. The Engineer will be working in the client's Data Management organization, supporting efforts to build tooling required for database and systems automation. This opportunity calls for a person with an Oracle DBA background as well as being well versed in developing scripts and utilizing configuration management tools for automating infrastructure/environmental change. Core responsibilities include engaging with development teams (in both an advisory and contributor role) on automation solutions that focus on the Oracle DB platform, and collaborating with operational teams to advise and establish standards that enable automation capabilities.
This position will be creating new playbooks and updating existing playbooks for build and patch automation. The candidate should have a good working knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server databases and how the installation steps of an upgrade or new installation are executed.

Required skills:

·         7+ years of overall IT and/or development experience and strong understanding of SDLC

o    Experience importing/transforming data from disparate sources such as for data warehousing (ETL)

·         Must have strong understanding of DevOps practices and techniques such as Continuous Testing & Integration (CI/CD)

·         Strong working knowledge of DevOps related tooling: Ansible (required), Puppet/Chef, Github/Bitbucket, or similar

·         3+ years' experience provisioning, patching, administering and supporting Oracle databases in DBA role

o    Must have experience with clustered/HA database architecture including Oracle ASM and RAC

·         Strong SQL query knowledge and experience in developing solutions in Oracle PL/SQL

·         Strong experience with shell scripting tools and languages: Python/Perl/Bash

Preferred skills:

·         Development experience with Oracle Application Express (APEX) is highly preferred

·         Experience with Jira for bug fixing and tracking

·         Experience with data warehousing Star Schema or Data Vault model

·         Experience with cloud technology (AWS/Azure)
