JOB DETAIL

Role        : Scrum Master

Location: Hartford, CT (Post COVID)

Duration: 12+ months CTH

Visa: USC or GC Only // W2 position

Interview Mode:  Phone & Video

Requirement:

Must haves:

  • 5+ years as a Scrum Master in a large Enterprise environment
  • SAFe Agile certification (5.0 preferred) + practical Scaled Agile experience
  • Strong servant leadership skills, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, mentoring, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Ability to handle conflict (and has a proven track record of this)
  • Background as a project manager highly preferred (will be holding heads down developers and engineers accountable and pushing back when needed on timelines/gaps)

Nice to haves:

  • Skills using project management and collaboration tools such as RTC, JIRA, CA Rally, Confluence/SharePoint
  • Advanced understanding of resource allocations, forecasting, and budgeting

PROJECT DETAILS (important):

  • Team is delivering a service/solutions not a product
  • Our program is building the Intelligent Platform. There are teams that will be doing the evaluation of the tools and building what we call patterns for the capabilities. We need a scrum master that will be able to manage that work and that team. That work then gets handed off to other teams to implement as solutions. That may be unique for some as it’s not a product that is being built/demoed. We are building patterns/evaluating
  • Extremely fast paced environment with high expectations set, needs someone who can keep up
  • They are operating in a true scaled agile environment, but value someone who has waterfall experience as a PM to call out discrepancies, be aggressive, and look at the bigger picture

Where interviews have been missing the mark:

  • A lot of scrum masters are used to delivering something tangible and get to see it come through to fruition, this team is delivering evaluations, solutions, and POC designs that eventually will make up a product…but the team they hand off to is running that side
  • Some have been good scrum masters, but have lacked the aggressive mentality to get quiet folks to speak up, if they have a problem or they are delayed they may not understand “the bigger picture” – this scrum master will be the one pushing those folks to communicate
  • Folks have been lacking the true drive to push the teams hard/harder
  • Doesn’t expect someone to be super aggressive in an interview, but expects them to give examples of when they’ve been aggressive with teams who aren’t communicating
  • Scrum master needs to partner and be transparent with the RTE, not shield the RTE from everything – they prefer open lines of communication
