Detailed Job Description:
Role & Responsibilities
- Support several Open Source technologies including MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Install, configure, upgrade and patch databases.
- Coordinate the allocation of system storage and plans future storage requirements for the database.
- Coordinate, modify and maintain database and schema structures.
- Analyze, implement & maintain database system and data security.
- Develop & implement processes and procedures to monitor and tune databases.
- Experience in Migration
- Third party tool e.g. xtrabackup/innobackups
- Monitoring tools e.g. Monyog/Nagios
- Experience in clustering
- Hands on knowledge Linux/windows operating system
- Plan, develop and implement processes and procedures to backup and recover the database information.
- Plan, develop and implement processes and procedures to maintain archived data on appropriate storage devices.
- Analyse, document and present database hardware and technology requirements.
- Continually improve database administration standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Review database development activities to assure conformance with design specifications.
- Participate in and integrate database design with data access development and implementation.
- Provide comprehensive database trouble shooting
- Assist application developers with tuning
- Communicate and coordinate between development teams on project implementations affecting major shared data objects
- Maintain high customer satisfaction
- Participate and collaborate in a strong team of established DBAs
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Strong emphasis on training around technical and personal skill development.
Must have
- Should be able to Install and Upgrade MySQL for the most common operating systems.
- Should have knowledge and exposure in utilizing the MySQL Administrator Graphical User Interface (GUI) to manage a MySQL server.
- Good understanding experience in improving performance through query optimization.
- Knowledge and usage of MySQL monitoring tools to improve server performance.
- Should be able to evaluate data types and character sets for performance issues.
- Good experience and exposure in setting Up Master Slave Replication.
- Experience on similar/different DB technology for Career upskill – Cloud/Hadoop/RDBMS
