Job responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain integrations using Java, REST services and Oracle APIs. 

- Interpret complex functional specifications and produce simple, clear, tested, and documented code to meet the stated requirements. - May be asked to write technical specifications. 

- Maintain legacy applications written in custom Java framework. 

Development environment: • Java •Unit testing • Mule • Confluence, Jira • OpenShift, Camel • Amazon AWS • JSON • Git and CVS • Jenkins 

Required Skills:

 • Strong background in Java and object-oriented design patterns, Java IDE (Eclipse or equivalent), Java Servlet programming, Java builds tools and MVC framework (such as Spring MVC) 

• Must have experience with using threading, JDBC, Generics 

• Thorough understanding of REST services and its core concepts 

• Mid-level proficiency with PL/SQL and relational database concepts 

• Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token 

• Ability to debug web services and APIs 

• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements 

• Recent (3+ years) experience writing Java applications for production implementation 

• Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write specs if needed 

• Can perform basic network-level troubleshooting 

• Understands application security best practices 

• Must be willing to be in on-call support rotation 

• Must be able to work as part of a team 

Nice to have skills that are a big plus:

• Mule (or other Enterprise Service Bus) 

• Identity and Access Management (IAM), Oracle 

• Banner student systems 

• Agile methodology
