Description
I-STOP legislation requires the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) to establish an online, real-time controlled substance registry to track the prescription and dispensing of controlled substances. The law requires dispensers to report data in real time as well as requiring prescribers to view the information before prescribing. This position will support the infrastructure to provide support for the integration with electronic medical records, prescription fraud detection, and interoperability with prescription monitoring programs in other states.
Duties
- Installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle GoldenGate software
- Building replication from Sybase databases to Oracle databases
- Monitoring the performance and availability of the replication environment
- Starting and stopping replication as necessary.
- Identifying database changes necessary to improve the replication process
- Reversing the direction of replication when we are ready to make the new environment the primary system
- Managing the security of the replication environment
- Managing users, roles, and privileges in the target Oracle database environment
- Responsible for data analysis and database management
- Modifications to existing structures and creation of new objects.
- Monitor performance and availability of Oracle database environment
- Starting and stopping Oracle databases as necessary
- Creating and maintaining documentation related to all tasks and provide mentoring/knowledge transfer to other staff as necessary
Mandatory Requirements
- Uses specialized software to store and organize data, which may include capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, and troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.

Requirements
- 48 months of experience working in a heterogeneous GoldenGate replication environment (e.g. Sybase to Oracle)
- 60 months of experience working with GoldenGate in an Oracle database environment
- 48 months of experience working with GoldenGate in a Sybase ASE environment
- 60 Months of experience as an Oracle database administrator installing, maintaining and troubleshooting Oracle 10g or later with GoldenGate for Active-Active Replication in a UNIX-like environment (e.g., AIX).
- 84 months of experience administering Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture systems (RAC and Data Guard) in a UNIX-like environment (e.g. AIX)
- 36 months of experience administering Sybase ASE databases
- 84 months of experience programming in Oracle PL/SQL and/or Sybase ASE Transact-SQL
- 84 months of experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager (a/k/a Grid Control or Cloud Control) to administer Oracle databases
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related field.
