JOB DETAIL

As an Experienced Software Engineer in Principal Global Investors (PGI), you’ll assist our Investment Accounting team dedicated to supporting the our investing platform and our modernization efforts towards the cloud! This is a superb opportunity for someone with a passion for learning, coaching, and helping those around you improve all aspects of software delivery.

Here are few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

•             Learn, grow and lead with your team as we seek to implement new technologies, build in security from the beginning, improve our coding practices, provide scale and performance capabilities, and evolve our engineering culture.

•             Support legacy business applications and SaaS solutions.

•             Explore cloud technology and scale cloud capabilities over time, including knowing the latest industry trends.

•             Participate in code/design reviews and learning technical design.

•             Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines that test and deploy software, data, and infrastructure artifacts across managed environments

•             Collaborate with highly skilled architecture, technical engineers, and other roles on application design and architecture.

•             Own continuous improvement in yourself, your team, and the solutions you build.

Qualifications:

Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field or equivalent experience) and 4-6 years work experience or equivalent experience. Proven experience as an IT professional. Ability to obtain certification(s) in an IT related field is a plus. Basic knowledge of insurance and financial services products preferred. Basic planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills required. Proficiency with database applications, knowledge of mainframe, distributed and/or web programming language. Basic leadership skills preferred. Excellent time management skills preferred. Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow. Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both It and non-IT partners. Some travel may be required, including overnight stays. May be required to provide on-call support.
