The successful candidate will work in a team with focus on global production support, performance & tuning, design, deployment and support of Sybase ASE, IQ, and Replication.
The Database Administrator will be responsible for analyzing the needs of users to help identify database problem and initiate the process for proposing solutions.
The DBA will ensure that the requirements of the business users are captured, documented and clearly understood by development, QA, and other IT groups before a solution is developed and implemented.
The candidate is expected to coordinate & participate in activities within TIS (technology infrastructure services department) to improve stability and ensure integrity of the production environment
Additional responsibilities include building and supporting the disaster recovery initiatives of the firm and ensuring infrastructure compliance against major BFSI Customer’s security baselines and Audit requirements
Technical expertise:
Experience with Sybase ASE 16 including replication v15.7/16
Sybase IQ experience preferred
Experience in performance & tuning of OLTP & data warehouse applications
Provide Sybase replication support for building Table level and MSA types of replication
Sybase installation and version upgrade from 15.7 to 16. x or appropriate version
Analyzing system performance using DBCC, Traceon commands, query plan output, system procedures like sp_sysmon, MDA tables & other performance monitoring tools
Strong Performance and Tuning capabilities and root cause analysis reporting
Good understanding of UNIX platform with ability to develop maintain UNIX shell scripts
Knowledge of MS SQL RDBMS is a plus
Weekend work will need to be undertaken
Good written and oral communication skills for providing documentation to support personnel, customers, and managers
Must be highly organized with ability to work well under pressure; sensitive to risk and controls
