Verizon is seeking a Contractor position for Microsoft SQL Server DBA. This role requires close partnership and collaboration with other Data Engineers and Subject Matter Experts. We are looking for someone who is experience with Microsoft SQL Database Administration. The DBA needs to maintain best practices and collaborates with the architecture and application teams to set the technical vision that is pleasing to our client.
Additional experience with cloud platform - Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS, NoSQL like "Cassandra database" and other database technologies.

What youll be doing...

• Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014/2016
• Experience with Star Schema Analytic data modeling
• Proficient in designing/implementing/administering large and complex SQL Server environments
• SQL Clustering and Replication, Performance Tuning, Backup and recovery methods, Database capacity planning, and Users and Role creation and monitoring
• Strong experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
• Strong experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• SQL Development - ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
• Experience with virtualization technologies
• Windows clustering and troubleshooting o/s
• Transactional SQL
• Experience with Large database
• Experience with Data Warehousing
• Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.
• Build and Support packaged systems like PEGA and open source software like MYSQL, Mongo DB and Aurora.
• Research and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions for business issues.
• Create ad-hoc reports utilizing various data sources.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies.
• Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality.
• Provide 24*7 on-call operations for a mission-critical application.
• Design complex solutions that integrate AWS cloud, on premise physical and Virtual server, EC2, S3 storage, networking, and security.
• Conduct systems design, feasibility, and cost studies and recommend cost-effective cloud solutions.
• Develop standardized AMI images and Cloud formation automation scripts for building non-prod and prod environments on AWS.

What were looking for...
Youll need to have:
• Bachelors degree or four or more years work experience.
• Four or more year of relevant work experience.
• Experience in working on Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014/2016
• Experience in building and managing Aurora PostgreSQL, Cassandra Open Source.
• Experience in managing Databases and automation in AWS environment.

Even better if you have:
• Scripting in Python, Jenkins and automation etc., is a big plus.
• Working experience in all areas of database Administration: performance tuning, Disaster recovery, highly available and fault-tolerant systems, backup/recovery, Shell & PLSQL programming, replication methods.
• Expertise in SQL SERVER 2012, 2016 and 2019
• Performance tuning/troubleshooting skills, and experience with Clustering.
