JOB DETAIL

Job Description:-

  • Administering databases running on SQL Server Standalone, SQL Always On platforms on the latest versions including SQL 2012, 2014, 2016 etc. using DBMS tools and SQL Server Management Studio
  • Involving in the database monitoring using Foglight or other monitoring tool, review the alerts, identify the root cause and take remediation actions.
  • Capacity Management, Security Management, High Availability Management and Backup and Recovery Management
  • Install, upgrade, and manage database applications. Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Building and supporting SQL Server databases in the cloud platforms, 360 health check, performance tuning recommendations, and database migration activities.
  • Provides 24 x 7 database support services.  After hour and weekend support is required.
  • Automation of the repetitive functions with the cloud database build, configure, test, deployment, and monitoring activities.
  • Configuration of Windows Clustering, PowerShell scripting, SSRS/SSIS/SSAS installation. 
  • User control management access provisioning and deprovisioning.

 

Essential Functions:
• Project Management: Manages large, complex projects using budgeting & financial tracking controls. Develops project structure & approach w/minimal statement of objective. Provides project reporting to project sponsor.
• Meta Data Repository: Recommends strategies for the development of data definitions & meta data structures for information repository & the performance of model management activities ensuring proper alignment w/organizational goals & industry directions.
• Database Design (physical): Develops high-level information architecture & ensures that the high-level business requirements are met through successful completion of tactical/strategic projects. Represents KP is industry standards agencies & assures incorporation of industry standards across information management projects.
• Database Development (physical): Develops high-level database architectures & ensures that database systems are consistent w/information architecture & information management & industry standards.
• Database Performance: Establish database performance criteria & thresholds.
• Communications: Prepares research, prepares technical studies & makes recommendations. Prepares business requirements reports, feasibility studies, & cost justification statements. Articulates information management direction to IT department & to management.
• Technology Evaluation: Researches & evaluates alternative solutions & recommends the most efficient & cost-effective database solution for the systems' design at the enterprise level.
• Methodologies & Standards: Evaluates methodologies/standards for fir w/enterprise information architecture.
• Database Management & Support Tools: Recommends & evaluates management & support tools that fit w/ enterprise architecture. Recommend changes to architecture to accommodate tools as needed.
• Client Consulting: Consults w/clients & development areas in the design & implementation of large complex database solutions. Consults w/IT staff & clients to determine the impact of new or revised applications on information infrastructure. Represents client perspective for the development of information management strategy & acts as a consultant to management.
• Training/Mentoring: Coaches staff in consulting skills & information management skills & approaches. Identifies skill sets that need to be developed. Performs formal training.
• Data Transformation: Involve in the integration of data transformation in the overall architecture. Represents KP in industry standard agencies & ensures incorporation of these standards across KPT supported projects.
• Database Maintenance: Consult w/management & develops database troubleshooting policies, procedures, methodologies, standards, & practices. Evaluates & selects tools in conjunction w/staff. Provides in-depth consulting to management & staff at the highest level in the identification & resolution of major database problems or difficulties.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required - SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017
  • Experience in SQL AON High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools and TSQL.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
