The SQL Server Database Administrator will create, administer and support the SQL Server databases which drive the business. This individual will work under the guidance of the Database Manager to perform all aspects of database administration, facilitate maximum database availability/optimal performance, and to support technology staff within a software development environment. Candidate must understand all aspects of database administration and effectively work with software developers to solve problems
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver results with minimal supervision
- Troubleshoot issues/provide solutions
- Learn new technologies/applications
- Perform daily administration of SQL Server databases
- Install new releases, patch, and maintain SQL Server databases
- Analyze/tune SQL Server databases to run at optimal efficiency
- Develop, implement and monitor database backup and recovery procedures
- Implement DDL/DML scripts as part of software release management
- Provide 24x7 production support, in an environment where uptime is critical
- Automate recurring tasks through a combination of SQL, T-SQL, or scripting languages such as PowerShell
- Promote adherence to departmental/software development standards
- Set a professional example for the team through model behavior, superior performance, and proper attendance
- Work after hours as required
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- BS degree or equivalent work experience
- ‘Can do’ attitude towards solving problems and completing tasks
- 4+ years’ experience in SQL Server Database Administration (with emphasis on SQL Server versions 2008 through 2017)
- Azure-based SQL Server administration
- Production Support
- SQL Server Clustering
- SQL Server Mirroring
- SQL Server Replication
- Scripting skills such as PowerShell, Perl, etc.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required
