Responsibilities

Develop automated performance and scalability evaluation methodologies that accurately reflect and stress test the

various real world customer use cases.

Develop robust benchmark workloads using JMeter, based on production traffic patterns and anticipated feature

usage with varying load levels .

Scope performance & load testing efforts on various Trailhead services.

Work closely with other engineers to identify and remediate application performance bottlenecks.

Instrument production code to improve our monitoring effectiveness.

Develop and review test plans.

Automate test scenarios and performance test framework.

Build robust monitoring and alerting mechanisms

Instrument synthetic transaction monitoring and availability monitoring and Application monitoring for the RoR

applications.

Drive operational implementation of monitoring capabilities, dashboards and improvements, and maintain operational

availability of delivered solutions

 

Some Qualifications We Look For

3-5 years of benchmark testing, performance analysis, and measurement of technically challenging applications

Skilled in the art and science of modeling of a system under load, identifying the correct benchmarks to represent it,

and measuring the results

Experience conducting benchmark and/or work-load testing using automation tools and frameworks for performance

measurement and evaluation

Strong knowledge of HTTP load generation/measurement software (e.g. JMeter)

Ability to work cross-functionally to articulate, measure and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues

Good programming skills in either Ruby, Java, Javascript or any programming language.

Hands-on experience with performance measurement, evaluation, and optimization

 

Nice to Have

Experience with the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, development,

testing, deployment, documentation, support and maintenance

Experience with Ruby, Rails and ActiveRecord

Experience with log management tools such as Sumo Logic or Splunk

Experience with real-time alerting and analytics tools such as New Relic, Pager Duty.

Experience with Synthetic Monitoring tool like Catchpoint, ThousandEyes.

Experience with CDN performance tuning such as Fastly

You can debug UI issues and solve problems with CSS, HTML, and JS

A love for continuous performance improvement

Experience with a variety of datastores (Postgresql, Redis, Memcached)

Observability and tooling instrumentation experience

Bachelor’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical

discipline or equivalent experience
