- Extracts, cleans, transforms, aggregates, interpret large quantities of raw data for reporting.
- Utilizes several (3+) technical tools in preparing datasets for analysis. Such tools may include SQL, SQL*Loader, Excel, Python, Informatica, Tableau, Hadoop, Java, various AWS cloud products, and more.
- Uses data visualization software to create and publish aesthetically pleasing and informational reports/dashboards for internal and external parties.
- Writes and tests scripts to produce data extracts and reports for management and customers.
Data Migration:
- Accurately completes source to target data mapping.
- Verifies mapping accuracy through automated scripts and manual testing.
- Works with state technical and business staff to define data mapping.
- Writes and maintains data migration scripts/processes.
- Ensures migration scripts/procedures are scalable and meets performance requirements for assigned projects through performance tuning.
Production Support/Customer Service:
- Serves as “data expert” for assigned product area – supporting the data needs for feature development and the cleanup of erroneous data.
- Troubleshoots and resolves data problems as assigned. This involves utilizing SQL and other tools to assist in data manipulation.
- Is customer focused and understands customers’ business requirements. Evaluates the requirements and makes recommendations.
- Communicates well, verbally and electronically, with internal and external customers to gather requirements and provide technical explanations of problems.
- Regularly demonstrates initiative and is proactive by identifying potential problems that may occur.
- Is quality minded and looks for ways to improve the quality of processes for which the team is responsible. Identifies problems, recognizes the impact to other systems, and takes corrective action by identifying the appropriate business partners or developers to resolve the problem.
- Provides excellent customer service to NAIC customers, both internally and externally.

The candidate the client hired is a Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer working with: Oracle 19c/12c/11g/10g, PL/SQL, UNIX Shell Scripting, Shell Programming, UNIX (Solaris, Linux), Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008, T-SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQR-Reporting.
RESPONSE TO REQUESTED SKILLS in # of years of experience:
• Experience in using Tableau or similar BI analytics tool is strongly preferred: 6 years
• Experience in the use of JIRA: 4 years
• Experience in the use of ETL tool (Informatica preferred): 5 years
• Experience with Cloud technology (AWS preferred): 2+ years
• Experience in Python and/or Java coding: 4 years
• Experience architecting and deploying analytics data warehouse: 4 years
• Experience with document-oriented databases (MongoDB, Amazon DynamoDB): 2+ years
