This role is responsible for the Business Analysis for portal-related projects. This role will provide business analysis skills throughout the project life-cycle, i.e. analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and hand-over. The work includes requirements gathering, functional specification definition, data analysis, test use case planning and preparation. The role requires close interaction with business users; senior stakeholders, other development teams, support teams, infrastructure teams and project teams to ensure projects & services are delivered on schedule with high quality. The role will suit an experienced business analyst with a technical background and interest.
Business Analyst Job Responsibilities
- Work as a team player in a global development group participating in business requirements/functional specification definition, data analysis and design liaising with both Business and IT teams.
- Support and coordinate system implementations through the project lifecycle (initiation, planning, analysis/design, development, implementation, testing, rollout, and hand-over) working with other teams on a local and global basis.
- Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
- Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.
- Strong analytic and product-management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application requirements.
- Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
- Strong analytical skills, self-motivated and capable of working in a dynamic global environment that demands multi-tasking.
- Ability to generate ideas and efficiently mock up proposals and orchestrate demos
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in computer science or related field with emphasis on technology
- 5+ years of writing Business Requirement Documents and Functional Specification Documents experience
- 3+ years of technical development experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working experience in Life Insurance and Annuity domain, especially portal and enterprise technologies is a plus.
- Experience with web & database technologies: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML/XSD, Oracle, SQL
- Experience using a structured modeling language, preferably UML.
- User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design understanding
- • Proven delivery track record of managing business analysis within fast-paced corporate environment and agile methodologies
- • Candidate should be able to diagnose problems quickly and independently
- • Sharp, quick, aggressive ability to deal with business and system problems
- • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to influence senior management level project sponsors and stakeholders
- • Capable of facilitating meetings
- • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Project, Visio and SQL or related software applications
- • End-to-end lifecycle experience of systems development & implementation project
- • Can do attitude with willingness to accept challenges and develop innovative approaches

- • Experience modeling data, processes, events, use cases, and objects
- • Experience facilitating client workshops/discussions
