The Product Owner for our internal tableau analytics platform is responsible for the analytics platform that enable data analytics teams across the divisions to acquire, store, curate, and surface data to users. The ideal candidate will have experience delighting end users, wrangling data, and values creating outcomes for divisions. You will have clear focus on distributed, self-service tableau data platform and will act as the voice of the end user as you prioritize a value-oriented backlog to balance the needs of various divisional needs. Your goal is to create self-service at scale with a resilient, scalable, and high-performance platform.
A typical day might have you attending daily standups, performing story mapping exercises with stakeholder groups, researching industry trends, and collaborating on prototypes with an architect or tableau developer. In this role, you will be supporting Enterprise sales and marketing team needs, with a focus on supporting sales performance vs forecast, developing data driven insights to better meet the needs of the users and the organization. Additionally, you’ll troubleshoot and drive improvements to ensure high data quality and reporting integrity for datahub and tableau dashboards.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Results driven and goal oriented with high intent on improving data quality and managing complexity
- Able to coordinate and drive continuous improvement effort with offshore support team
- Able to develop technical roadmap based on infrastructure reality and divisional desired direction
- Fluent in using tableau to develop analytic dashboards
- Coordinate with cross functional team within the ecosystem, including internal IT, Business and CX stakeholders as well as external partners
Responsibilities include:
- Building, managing, and prioritizing the Tableau platform backlog based upon business value and technical complexity
- Regularly interfacing with stakeholders and end users, gathering feedback on product iterations and building additional backlog items
- Develop technical roadmap, build and leverage global design template.
- Fully understanding the end to end platform so that you can make thoughtful tradeoffs in features and functionality while empathizing with the realities of the IT data engineering team
- Creating minimum viable documentation to help with auditing, support, and troubleshooting
- Representing the tableau platform to internal audit and compliance teams, ensuring a focus on security and adherence to all relevant regulatory policies
- Speaking with internal customers and key stakeholders about how they can achieve success through a self-service via Tableau.
- Develop and track the value metrics and effectiveness metrics.
- Working with analytics leadership across firm to promote the value of distributed data engineering on a shared tableau platform.
- Participating in testing, implementation, and escalation support of critical systems and deployed solutions
- Working with external vendors to service, augment, and support the data platform.
- Creating strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
- Owning the cost forecasting and modeling for compute, storage, and other fixed and variable costs of operating a shared data platform. This includes divisional and team level cost breakdowns for tableau usage and license.
Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Technology, or related combination of education and experience
- Minimum 6 years of product, project, or program management or 5+ years of experience managing BI, analytics, or data warehousing teams
- Direct or indirect experience with modern data languages and technologies such as R, Python, Snowflake, or data services that are part of Oracle Cloud, AWS, or Azure platforms. You might not know how to integrate various platforms, but you have a working knowledge of the features of each and where they will benefit firm to advance analytics.
- Demonstrated:
- Strong coordination skills among internal stakeholders and external vendor team(s)
- Ability to develop and present solutions to complex business situations leveraging recommendations supported through analytics
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment and decision-making
- Strong analytical skills: ability to translate data into digestible storylines and meaningful recommendations
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to:
- Work well under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently
- Tackle ambiguous and complicated problems by breaking them down into digestible chunks, applying a project management lens to ensure the timely completion of all deliverables
- Overall 9+ years experience
Desired Job Qualifications:
- BS Degree in statistics, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field
- Tableau desktop specialist certification
- Experience with Salesforce platform, Salescloud
