JOB DETAIL

  • The Investments Performance Sr. Business Analyst role sits within the technology function of Client Investments+. This role is a member of the Front Office and Analytics Technology team, which is responsible for managing the daily & monthly generation and publishing of Client asset portfolio total return performance measurements, return attribution, and ex-post portfolio analytics. The team focuses on ensuring that production processes operate smoothly, and all calculations are completed in a timely manner with appropriate quality control checks in-place.
  • Effectiveness in this role requires a blend of knowledge in ex-post portfolio performance measurement, combined with knowledge of the process and system(s) applied in calculating and reporting portfolio performance. This role also requires the ability to effectively interface with data suppliers, process and offshore support team, and front office consumers (portfolio managers and deputy chief investment officer teams).
  • Performance Measurement Operations: Includes management of portfolio configurations, portfolio aggregates, benchmark data sourcing, custom and/or composite benchmark management, problem management, change management, documentation, and application of operational controls.
  • Performance Measurement Analyst: Assess performance requirements and work with suppliers, enablers, and consumers to ensure business requirements are met. Review and validate portfolio total returns, benchmark returns, and return attribution.
  • Performance Reporting: Coordinate with the performance ops team, front office, and CIO teams, to enable and meet requirements for reporting on performance measurement in an automated manner. Coordinate with consumers and development team to improve or enhance reporting via established reporting interfaces or reports.
  • Support Investment Operations: Support offshore locations who coordinate more directly with front office in non-US locations to meet local needs for performance measurement reporting, while centrally controlling the production and operations. Support certain manual processes and efforts to automate.
  • Participate in & Drive Process Enhancements: Drive enhancements of processes or platforms applied in asset modeling and financial projections from technology perspective. Support user acceptance testing for changes that undergo change management and ensure proper capturing of changes and approvals in change management tracker.

 

Technical Skills and Expertise

  • 4+ years of business analysis experience and working with front-office stakeholders.
  • 4+ years of SQL experience and managing SQL-based production processes.
  • 4+ years of experience with industry standard middle-office accounting book of record (ABOR) and/or investment book of record (IBOR) performance system required; experience with FactSet/BISAM B-One performance system considered a huge plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Bloomberg, RIMES, and/or benchmark index data, including knowledge of benchmark creation processes.
  • Experience with designing data models and creating reports in BI tools strongly preferred; Power BI experience considered a plus.
  • Experience in and comfort with python programming, functional or object-oriented, not required but considered a plus.
  • Foundational knowledge in investment accounting from operational and/or transaction perspectives, particularly for fixed income.
  • Operation of asset valuation and analytics for fixed income is beneficial.
