Office of the Professions (OP) provides one of the core business functions of the New York State Education Department (NYSED). The program is responsible for all licensing and renewal activities of more than 54 professional titles as well as licensing and renewal for professional corporations and pharmacy establishments. The services provided include the full range of accepting, reviewing, and approving license applications, post-licensure services, professional guidance and oversight, and the investigation of incidents of professional misconduct.
- Software architect with expertise in JavaScript, Spring Boot, and Hibernate with a desire to be a hands-on architect delivering working software.
- Demonstrated knowledge in submitting and reviewing pull requests, GitFlow, modern code standards.
- Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with business stakeholders and the development team.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
- Experience (10+ Years)
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or professional specialty AND 6-10 years of relevant experience, or;
- Master’s degree in a technical or professional specialty and 3-5 years of relevant experience, or;
- PhD. in a technical or professional specialty and 0-3 years of relevant experience, or;
- Any equivalent combination of education, advanced training (e.g. specialized engineering school, law enforcement, military), and 15+ years of relevant experience.
- 7 years of experience in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- 6 years of experience using Spring Framework.
- 4 years of experience using Spring Boot.
- 4 years of experience writing JUnit tests.
- 4 years of experience using JPA and Hibernate.
- 3 years of experience using CSS frameworks (Bootstrap preferred)
- 3 years of experience with consuming JSON over HTTP.
- 3 years of experience working with JSP as a Spring MVC view.
- 3 years of experience with Version Control Systems (Git Preferred)
- 2 years of experience developing in Java 8 or greater using Optional, collectors, of and other Java 8 declarative / functional programming techniques.
- 2 years of experience documenting interfaces and APIs using (Swagger preferred)
- 2 years of experience with dependency management (Gradle preferred)
- 2 years of experience developing in an agile environment (JIRA/Scrum preferred)
- 1 year of experience using Vue.js
