The Data Science & Platform Engineering Department leads the development of Benson Hill’s crop design platform, CropOSTM which combines machine learning and big data with genome editing and plant biology to accelerate and simplify the product development process. The team partners with the Research & Development teams on the development of a portfolio of offerings (commercial, product, or platform related) that meet the needs of Benson Hill’s business units.
Position Summary
Participate in end-to-end software development, maintenance, and software development lifecycle to achieve project goals. Identify and incorporate software best practices and other technology platforms into our environment. Work with an autonomous agile development team, participating in code review, conflict resolution, deliverable estimation and software repository management.
Skills
Proficient in C# - C# .Net MVC / .NetCore / javascript
NoSQL
Neo4j or graph databases is a big plus
Building and consuming Web Services
GIT, Docker
Not building a data lake but needs to understand how to work with them
AWS experience and deploying apps to the cloud
Visual Studio and Postman
Sql Server / SSMS
Experience with Telerik UI library a plus

6+ years work experience building and deploying software
AWS cloud platform or other cloud platforms

Solid OOP and software design knowledge – you know how to write software that is extensible, reusable and meets desired architectural objectives
Demonstrated experience with the GIT code repository toolset or other version control frameworks
Strong planning, organizing, problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability and experience efficiently executing project tasks and a track record of producing deliverables under tight release deadlines
Developing in a fast-paced team environment using modern Agile organizational tools such as JIRA
Excellent communication skills and receptive to feedback on code and software-level outputs

Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
Work with users to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and translate them into pragmatic and effective technical designs
Enable creative scalable engineering solutions for data gathering and integration for structured and unstructured data sets
Engineer cloud deployed software solutions to enable data and analytics pipelines
Continuously improve and maintain code quality through writing unit tests, automation and code reviews
Contribute ideas to help improve our technology, coding standards and products
Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications
