Participate in the daily support of NCL's production, test and development databases. 

Own the major tasks as assigned to the Database team by its customers, reporting its progress to the rest of IT and keeping management informed of any road blocks or resource issues that may impede the progress of such tasks.

Perform day-to-day Database Administrator functions as assigned.  Functions include but are not limited to: systems analysis, database test, design, upgrade, installation and documentation. Monitor database system performance and configuration management.

Add technical experience related influence to future database solutions as well as applications. They will be expected to participate and add value to the backup and disaster recovery solutions, automation and supporting all databases at NCLH head qtrs. and across all NCLH fleet.

Travelling will be required as part of the job responsibility.

Perform other job related functions as assigned.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in a technical field such as computer science, MIS, math or related; or any equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Oracle DBA Professional Certification preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 7 years database administration experience.  Solid experience administrating MS SQL server databases to the latest version , Oracle up to the latest versions  and SAP-Hana in a production environment.  Experience in software development in the area of coding, data manipulation and migration strongly preferred. Software Development experience in any capacity preferred. Working knowledge of the Job scheduler system Autosys is preferred.
 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:  General knowledge of automation scripting (perl, Unix Shells scripts, power shell scripts, etc.)  Knowledge of ancillary Oracle tools such as Quest's TOAD,  Confio from Solarwinds , etc.  Exceptional analytical skills, performance tuning skills and ability to clearly and effectively present ideas to peers and supervisors.  Good written and oral communication skills to work with team members at all levels. Thorough knowledge and hands on experience of
1) Administrating Microsoft SQL databases from version 2005 to 2016 including coding and creating and monitoring always on availability group. 
2) Oracle RDBMS internals and administration starting from Oracle 10 to oracle 12C as well as programming in PLSQL.
3) Administrating  SAP-Hana 
4) Administrating Sybase IQ.
5) Administrating   MYSQL database.
6) Ability to work on-call in order to provide 24/7 support for mission critical systems.
